Living Libraries

Youth Living Library session

Saturday, 7 November, 10am-12noon, 1-3pm
MacCabe Park - Living Library tent

In this satellite program you can hear the life stories of young people living in the Illawarra. If you ever wanted to know what a young Muslim woman’s life is like in Wollongong or the experience of a homeless young person, this is the place to ask the questions and learn about their lives.

Living Libraries is a unique way of interacting with people in your community, listening to their stories and asking questions.

A Living Library is similar to a normal everyday library but instead of borrowing a book, you borrow a person.

The ‘Borrower’ chooses a ‘Book’, then sits down for an informal 25 minute conversation which provides the borrowers with a valuable opportunity to ask questions and to converse with someone you would not always have the opportunity to converse with.

The ‘Books’ in this library are all young people who have interesting stories to tell about their culture, life experience and lifestyle.

Contact: Ashley Forrest on 0401 253 608 or via email at Living Library 09

The Youth Living Library has been funded by Youth Action and Policy Association and facilitated through Wollongong Youth Services.
